Behold, the MacAlan Homebrew

Today I opened up our first bottle of the new homebrew. It’s a Scotch Ale, and I have dubbed it the MacAlan.

It’s supposed to be a “wee heavy” which means usually 7%+ alcohol by volume, but I think it’s a wee light. It’s likely closed to 5%ish. It’s been carbonating in bottle for about 2 weeks which is just on the edge of too soon, but there were some bubbles and a bit of a head. As for flavor, there’s a bit of a sweetness with a very, very subtle caramel backing at the finish.

I would have liked it to be a little stronger flavor and alcohol-wise, but sometimes the beers will taste better after a little more time. This is definitely a nice cold-weather beer.
