What an end to February. Because of some slacking and general overload I didn’t do my third set Saturday, so I did it this morning after I’d been awake for an hour or so. No food yet, so my body was nicely starved since last night’s dinner almost 10 hours prior.
WOW. Numbers are insane today. Normal warmup and workout. HRM says I finished in 29:21, and I had record heartrates: average of 158bpm and a max of 175. I’ve never topped out like this before.. My graph is very different from my usual. Usually all 6 intervals show up as increasing peaks and valleys as the workout goes along with each interval being slightly higher than the last. This time the first two intervals were normal then the following four were similar to the highest-output final interval of previous workouts. I hit the zone 5 boundary (170bpm) in the third interval!
I performed almost the entire last interval all in zone 5 which means it was very stressful for my body (no kidding!) and it may warrant backing off the workout a little, so I have to keep that in mind for next time. Time for a recovery shake and a well deserved day of rest. Let’s hit ’em in March!
