MyFitnessPal link (friend me!)

Fast day! I was doing once or twice weekly 24-hour fasts that were dinner-to-dinner. It’s not exactly 24 hours but it’s close. My “breakfast” on these days is usually quite heavy but I also try my best to keep the carb count down. I wrote an article about fasting a while back, and it still holds for the most part.

I also did a “bodyweight sprint” which is what I call my very quick strength training workouts. I will write these up in detail another time, but in short, I did a descending set of 7 reps of each of pull ups, push ups, planks (x10 seconds), squats, and single-leg deadlifts (each side) for a total of 28 reps of each.

The bummer in this is that myfitnesspal (and really every tracking website I’ve used) don’t (can’t?) accurately track strength training. Cardio is trackable, but I’m not a fan of cardio for the sake of weight loss. I know I can get my heartrate up by doing the strength training I do because I minimize breaks – hence why I call it a sprint, and other than the pull-up bar I don’t use any equipment, thus bodyweight. I have no excuse to not do this exercise set more often than I do. I was doing it about once a week, so I’m going to shoot for twice then mix it up and do something else to make 3 workouts a week. Maybe I’ll bring back sledging!

Dinner:
1 1/2 cups of spaghetti squash -mone of the easiest things to prepare!
1/2 cup marinara sauce – had to hunt for no-sugar-added stuff. Julie found Capellino; a San Francisco brand!
10ish ounces of steak – ribeye that I pan seared then oven roasted. YUM.
about an ounce of chanterelle mushrooms lightly seared
16 oz harmless harvest coconut water – my favorite tasting coconut water. It’s a little pricey, but sooo good.

Not a lot of veggies today, I could maybe say 4 if you count the marinara. All that protein and fat was pretty darn tasty, though. Back to a more normal meal tomorrow, though I had some leftover steak… bwa-ha-ha!
